Bio:

Yasmin - Baatar Hero A Seattle native, Yasmin works for the local county government helping to deal with the do-do we all do (wastewater treatment). When she isn’t working at her day job, she is actively searching for truth and beauty in the world by capturing it in her photography, creating it in the jewelry she makes, and discovering it through investigation. Always looking for her next challenge and adventure, Yasmin was ecstatic when Baatar Hero invited her to join them on the Mongol Rally. Joining the team along the way, she willingly acknowledges her pack-mule role bringing supplies, treats, maybe even a transmission with her if it will fit in her backpack. Yet it is also her boundless resourcefulness, energy and humor that she brings to the team while ensuring her team members have what they need, which truly makes her a welcome addition to Baatar Hero.

She’s traveled to England, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Egypt, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, Mexico and the Philippines. Throughout her travels, she has loved experiencing the culture of each new country she has visited.

On this trip, Yasmin looks forward to capturing the all the beauty that we encounter along the way. This may be found in the rugged landscapes through which we will travel and the communities that we come across. She is proud to support RoamGreen and Mercy Corps, and personally experience why and for whom they do their work.

Camp Baatar Hero

Our Tent Village!

Our Tent Village!

The team packed our backpacks and set up our tents in eager preparation and practice for the rally.  Here are some pics of Camp Baatar Hero!   We all fit snug as a bug in a rug, errr. . . I mean in our tents.  Thank you to Mike Warner and Mr. Starr for your generous donation of tents for us to use on the rally.  And a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to us so far!  You helped us purchase our third tent, sleeping pads, chairs and stove and we can’t wait to put them to great use on the steppes of central Asia.   But mostly we look forward to donating them to Mercy Corps at the end of the rally!

The inside of our newest tent, compelete with sleeping pads!

Our newest sponsor – Rescue Tape

Baatar Hero is proud to announce our newest sponsor, Rescue Tape.

Rescue Tape is a self-fusing silicone repair product with infinite uses. First used by the US Military and now seen at consumer and industrial trade shows across America, this is the most versatile and easy-to-use emergency repair product available. You can repair leaks on plumbing and hoses in a flash, use to insulate electrical wiring or as shrink wrap, wrap tool handles, and much, much more.

Rescue Tape is a necessary addition to our rally ‘tool box’ helping us to seal any leaky hoses and pipes and can even be used as an emergency fan belt.

While we aren’t hoping for any emergencies, we know we’ll be rescued and secure with Rescue Tape!

Photo Shoot and Silent Auction

Thank you to everyone that made it to Twist on Thursday night!  It was a fun night of catching up with old friends and making new ones while enjoying appetizers and muddled lime vodka sodas (the Genghis Khan!) as the sun set behind us.

Our photography studio set up in the back of the bar was a huge success and full of energy and laughs as Amy found the perfect angle and lighting to take head shots and group portraits of all of our friends.  While photos were taken and cameras were flashing, the silent auction brought on some stiff competition for beautiful pieces of art and other goodies.  A huge thank you to everyone that bid on items generously donated by Daniel’s Broiler, Ventana, Seattle Pro Photo, Seattle Mongols, Jean Kim, Cybelle Creative, Brian Shrader, and Yasmin Mudah.  Thank you also to Twist for a great venue; the view and the Genghis Khan topped off the night.

We appreciate your support as we count down to the rally!  47 more days!
